Unique Setting: Ravka is Russia-inspired!!! There's even a map! 
Swoon Romance: I adore Mal. I was sad when he wasn't in the first book for the WHOLE MIDDLE, but then he came back and I WAS SO HAPPY!!! He's the sweetest to Alina. Plus, I dig it when the boy realizes his love outside the girl's confession and TRIES his hardest to get her back. Plus, he seemed like the underdog compared to the Darkling. And I like underdogs.
Forecasting the FILM: Shadow and Bone has been optioned by Dreamworks!!! 
I am going to be diligently watching the news for this film. Who will they CAST!!! I already have a dream cast stewing in my mind...which I'll totally post when I finally do my book review for Shadow and Bone.
